Partners in the Development of "The Redistricting Game" Red Hot Learning Inc. is getting great press these days for its role in the development of a free, online video game called "The Redistricting Game". Working in partnership with the Electronic Arts Game Innovation Lab and the Annenberg Center at the University of Southern California, Red Hot Learning was responsible for Programming & Development. The USC web site offers this description: "The Redistricting Game is designed to educate, engage, and empower citizens around the issue of political redistricting. Currently, the political system in most states allows the state legislators themselves to draw the lines. This system is subject to a wide range of abuses and manipulations that encourage incumbents to draw districts which protect their seats rather than risk an open contest."
The game has been named as one of finalists for the 2007 Games for Change "GaCha" Awards at Parsons - The New School for Design, in New York City. Read more... Play the game! CCL Releases Unlocking Canada's Potential Although Canadians are working harder and longer to maintain our standard of living, our future economic and social well-being is at risk. Despite adult Canadians' high educational attainment, almost half lack the skills they need to participate fully in today's complex society. And many employers are not investing, or are under-investing, in workplace training, the site where most adult skills and learning are used. This report examines the state of workplace and adult learning in Canada, with particular emphasis on the barriers to adult learning. (Source: The Learning Link, June 19, 2007) Read more... The Naming Game We've received few suggestions for a name for our newsletter: - Learning Leader
- Learning Connections
- We also had a suggestion that we might be able to use "Liaisons" instead of Connections and turn it into something that works in both official languages like: Learning Liaisons / Liaisons en apprentissage. Does this work?

Advanced Learning Technologies Symposium a Blockbuster Event Attendance at this year's second annual Advanced Learning Technologies Symposium attracted close to 450 delegates. This represents a 100% growth from last year's event. "We were absolutely amazed at the response from organizations throughout North America," stated Major Tim Workman, co-host for the event. The Symposium, a joint-venture between LearnNB and CFB Gagetown Advanced Individual Training Authority, attracted approximately half of the audience from non-military organizations. Such organizations as RCMP, Federal and Provincial Government, Private Sector, U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Navy sent representatives. The significant number of external attendees provided increased exposure to New Brunswick companies and capabilities. There was also increased participation in industry displays by companies both internal and external to New Brunswick that provided improved exposure to products developed internal to New Brunswick, while exposing external agencies to potential opportunities within the Province. A number of regional agencies now better appreciate how activities at CFB Gagetown can be leveraged to support current and future initiatives. Discussions are already underway for expanded event partners for next year's symposium. Kathy Watt, President of LearnNB reported, "In addition to the new learning that took place, the networking opportunities have already resulted in the creation of new, potentially significant, relationships that hold promise for the learning industry in New Brunswick". | Introducing Our Newest Members OrangeSprocket OrangeSprocket is a leading full service interactive design company delivering fresh and innovative creative blends.
