Formed on 04 February 2004, the NB Chapter, Canadian Society for Training and Development, was created to help New Brunswick's vision for the future which, in the word of a senior NB cabinet minister, includes helping our workers "become the most educated in the world." Our intent is to continue to develop a strong culture of learning as exemplified by 50,000 UNB alumni worldwide and another 1.5 million people who have completed some form of electronic learning program developed or delivered from the province.

The creation of the local chapter brings the CSTD closer to recognition as a national voice for the training industry and connects New Brunswick companies to their counterparts in the rest of Canada. Likewise, CSTD NB, through LearnNB, will promote the use of technology to improve literacy and to provide learning opportunities to all Canadians, including those in remote and rural communities.
